Mathilde Rosier: body and soil

8.21-11.5.2020

Through her work, Mathilde Rosier (Paris, France, 1973) constructs narratives that evoke the presence of dancing bodies and dreamlike, metaphysical situations, making the spectator feel a sense of the loss of space and time. For the exhibition at MASP, she investigates group dances in rural societies from different eras and geographical locations. The artist is interested in the rites and rituals in which the participants use dance to lose self-awareness, seeking moments of trance and lightness of being.
