TEXTS

The subject portrayed in Portrait of Octave Raquin is the architect Octave Raquin, was well-known for having designed the racecourse at Tremblay. The modeling of the face, faceted and constructed through the juxtaposition of brief brush strokes, reminds one of Cézanne’s contemporaneous experiments.
