TEXTS

The portrait of Miss Dolly – Singer with Green Gloves (The Singer Dolly at the “Café Star”in Le Havre) –, an Englishwoman who performed at the Café Star in the port city of Le Havre, in Normandy, where Toulouse-Lautrec stayed for a while in 1899. The artist portrayed her in at least three further lithos and one oil painting, now at the Musée Toulouse-Lautrec in Albi. The lithograph in question was one of a series of fifty copies (Adhémar 1965, n. 358) and tempera was applied to the impression now in the Masp Collection.
