By Luciano Migliaccio
Christ Before Pilate is considered Bosch’s work by several critics, among them De Tolnay, even though he himself, in 1965, declared the work to be by an imitator of Bosch’s final period, who was also influenced by Lucas de Leyden and by Dürer’s en- gravings. A painting by the master on the same theme is in the Princeton Museum.
