Sarcophagus: Three sides show in relief, scenes from the myth of Meleager; on the right smaller side: the death of Meleager from an arrow shot by Apollo, on the left smaller side: Althea (the mother of Meleager) in the presence of an Erinys, is burning on an altar the magic firebrand that has, until then, preserved her son’s life, and on the front larger side: the bringing of Meleager’s body to Calydon, the land of his birth.
