Cattle Dealer, the composition of the Masp drawing is similar to that of another painting of the artist with the same name, dated 1912, and kept at the Kunstmuseum in Basel (97 x 200.5 cm.). Chagall painted another version of the work in 1922 (Paris, Musée d’Art Moderne). Masp’s drawing is related to the latter.
